THE VELVET STORY
Velvet Roast began with a feeling we wanted the coffee to create before we ever worried about how many products belonged on a shelf.
FOUNDER
For me, coffee has never been just a beverage. It has been part of the way I have experienced the world.
Years of international travel turned coffee into a ritual of discovery. I have always had a passion for excellence, and coffee became one of the places where that passion could be pursued endlessly. In every city—and often far beyond the city—I found myself seeking out intimate cafés, dedicated roasters, rare coffees and memorable cups that carried the story of the people and places behind them.
That search eventually became Velvet Roast—a brand shaped by years of looking for coffees that were rare, remarkable and beautifully made, and by the belief that the same sense of excellence should be possible in the cup you enjoy every day.

HOW IT STARTED
The idea behind Velvet Roast was simple: create a coffee brand centered on smoothness, balance and the small luxury of a genuinely good everyday cup.
There are coffees built to be intense. Coffees built to be rare. Coffees built to make a statement before you have even tasted them.
We wanted something different: coffee you look forward to opening in the morning. Coffee with enough richness to slow you down for a minute, but enough ease to become part of the everyday.
That is where the word Velvet came from. It describes more than flavor. It suggests texture, warmth, softness and depth—the sensory qualities we wanted the whole experience to carry.

THE SYMBOL
The Velvet Roast mark brings together the two things at the center of the ritual: the bean and the cup.
The flowing gold lines suggest steam, aroma and movement rather than a static café badge. The warm metallic finish was developed to sit against deep velvet brown—the visual language we chose for the packaging from the beginning.
The goal is not old-fashioned ornament for its own sake. It is a modern luxury identity with enough richness to feel collectible and enough restraint to remain timeless.
WHY CLASSIC VELVET CAME FIRST
Classic Velvet is the first expression of the brand because it captures the balance we were chasing.
Its foundation is a medium-roast blend of coffees from Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala and Ethiopia, with an intended profile of toffee, dark chocolate and soft citrus.
The blend was chosen to deliver a smooth, rounded cup with layered sweetness and gentle brightness. Rather than launching with a wall of choices, Velvet Roast starts with the coffee that explains the brand most clearly.
Future coffees can explore darker, brighter and more origin-forward expressions, but they should still feel recognizably Velvet Roast. The test is not simply whether a coffee is good. It is whether it adds a distinct experience to the collection without compromising the standard set by Classic Velvet.
FROM THE FOUNDER
My love of coffee and my love of travel have been intertwined for years.
I have spent much of my life traveling internationally, and wherever the road took me, coffee became one of the ways I learned a place. I would look for the small café, the local roaster, the cup someone insisted I had to try—the coffee that carried a story you could not get from a hotel lobby or an airport lounge.
TAIWAN · THE SEARCH FOR THE CUP
Some of the experiences that stayed with me most came in Taiwan. My passion for finding exceptional coffee took me away from the cities and into the mountains, down roads I would never have traveled for any other reason, simply to discover coffees being produced in small quantities by people obsessed with quality. Those were the cups I was always looking for—the rare, unexpected discoveries that remind you how extraordinary coffee can be.
Those visits changed the way I thought about coffee. You begin to understand that the cup in your hand is the end of a much longer story—place, elevation, weather, harvest, processing, roasting, preparation and, above all, people.
At one of those remote stops, surrounded by years of awards, handwritten notes and signatures from visitors, I added my own name to the wall. It was a small gesture, but it stayed with me. Coffee has a way of creating connection—you can arrive as a stranger and leave feeling that you have shared something real.
WHY VELVET ROAST
After enough cups, enough countries and enough conversations, I kept coming back to the same idea: excellence does not have to be complicated. The coffees I remembered most were rich but not harsh, complex but not difficult, distinctive without becoming inaccessible, and beautifully made while still being something I wanted to drink every morning.
That became the idea behind Velvet Roast.
The word Velvet describes the experience I wanted in the cup—smooth, rounded, refined and memorable. The brand brings together years of travel, curiosity and a relentless search for exceptional coffee into something I can finally share: coffee with the character of a rare discovery, made to become part of everyday life.
“Exceptional coffee does more than wake you up. It can change the way a morning feels.”
